Rose was born on August 25, 1933 in St. Louis, MO to the late Karl and Marie (Weisler) Ratz. After moving to New Jersey, she worked at Newton Memorial Hospital for five years; after she worked at Sussex County Battery until they sold. She then went on to work for Robinson Aerial until her retirement 10 years later. She adored tutoring and doing thousand piece puzzles; many of which were sealed, framed and hanging in friends and family members homes. She also enjoyed crocheting, traveling the world, reading, old movies, walking and appreciating life.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Rose was deeply involved in various organizations that reflected her commitment to serving others. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. At the church, she was affectionately known as the "ticket lady" for her devoted efforts in selling tickets for the yearly raffle, embodying her dedication to her faith community. Rose Marie was also a vibrant member of the Anna's Angels Red Hat Group, where she held the esteemed position of Vice Queen. She was also a former member of the Wednesday Night Ladies Bowling League in Sparta.
Rose is survived by her loving children, Stephen Mistler (Mary), David Mistler, Sandra Rentz (Fred), Deborah Sokolsky (Joseph), Craig Mistler (Cindie); her cherished grandchildren, Tanya, Jessica, Bradley, Brianna, Stephen, Brian, Emily, Samantha, and DJ; her great-grandchildren, Quinn, Cole, Brandon, Zachary, Brianna, Makayla, Aubrey, Crew, Oliver and Ellis; her sister, Carol Willisch (Jack) and many loving nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Karl Ratz (Marie), Jeanette Ratz, William Ratz (Judy) and Marian Wolfmeyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at St. Joseph RC Church, 24 Halsted St, Newton, NJ. Entombment to follow at St. Joseph RC Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will take place on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ.
