Sarah was born on July 1, 1950, in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Doris (nee. Martin) Hess. Sarah grew up in Pennsylvania before later moving to Sussex County, and she also lived in Arizona for many years before returning to New Jersey to be closer to her sons after her husband passed away. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Stillwater, New Jersey.
Sarah will be remembered with deep respect for the steady devotion she showed to those she loved and the quiet strength that guided her through life’s changes. Her warmth was evident in the simple, lasting ways she cared for others, and she carried herself with a gracious presence that made family feel gathered and held.
Throughout her working life, Sarah held various positions in retail, bringing reliability to each role she undertook. She found joy in sewing, a talent she shared generously and with pride. Sarah lovingly sewed clothing for all her grandchildren and made doll clothes as well—thoughtful creations that reflected her patience, her attention to detail, and the enduring tenderness of her care. Always smiling, she cherished her family, and that abiding affection remains one of the clearest reflections of her life.
The beloved wife of the late Paul Kays, Sr., Sarah is survived by her sons, Paul Kays, Jr. and his wife, Kelly, James Kays, David Kays and his wife, Krystal and Joshua Kays and his wife, Kelly; her grandchildren, Derek and his wife, Alina, Maggie, Elizabeth, David and Lukas; her great-grandson, Mason; her siblings, Victor, Linda, Rose and June and her canine companion, Samara.
