He was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 26, 1941, the son of Augustine and Anna (Caola) Maturi. He attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Grammar School, and Fort Hamilton High School.
At the age of sixteen, he was co-owner with his brother, Hank, of Staten Island Grinding Service, Midland Beach.
Victor was an avid bowler, hitting the perfect score of 300 numerous times. He was a former member of the 20 Sportsman Club and the New York Grinder’s Association. Vic was also a former Vice President of the Cranberry Lake Community Club, and former Governor of Cabin Springs Section of Cranberry Lake.
He met his future wife, the former Dale J. Pickering in 1963 and married in July of 1965 at Sacred Heart Church in West Brighton. They were married for 54 years before her passing in 2019.
Vic, with his wife Dale, shared a love of country music. They enjoyed their Saturday night dates which often found them at the “Top of the Hill” in Bedminster, NJ meeting their friends and dancing.
During summers, you would have found Vic steering their boat with Dale waterskiing on Cranberry Lake. They also enjoyed cooking for the family for all holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries.
Victor was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dale, his brother Henry L. Maturi, and his brother-in-law Frank Pickering.
He is survived by his two sons and three granddaughters: Victor and Dolores Maturi with their two daughters, Valentina and Alejandra Maturi; and Frank and Lisa Maturi with their daughter, Ariana Maturi.
He is also survived by his sister, Gloria A. Maturi and his sister-in-law, Diane Maturi.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Victor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A visitation for Victor will be held on Friday, May 30 from 7pm to 9pm at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street in Newton, NJ 07860. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Good Shepherd R.C. Church, 48 Tranquility Rd, Andover, NJ 07821, on Saturday, May 31 at 10:30 am.
