She met her husband during WW2 in Florida and then moved to Mendham, NJ. She was active in her community throughout her life working with children and creating art. Her favorite was pottery and she spent most of her life as a potter while also working in activities and medical transcribing at a nursing home.
Vilma loved spending time with her family, vacationing in Maine, and visiting her son in Arizona.
Her favorite place was anywhere near the ocean. She had a huge sweet tooth, her most loved treats being ice cream cake, peppermint patties, and cookies. Vilma was always young at heart, even, the life of the party dancing up a storm at the age of 96 at her granddaughters' weddings!
Vilma is survived by her daughter Claire (Gerry) Willetts and son Robert (Chizuko) Durkee; 2 grandchildren, Megan(Josh) Scott and Amy (Nick) Barbato; along with 3 great-grandchildren Brandon, Brody and Hope.
