Ginny was born on December 3, 1929 in Lafayette, NJ to the late Denton V. and Hazel (Price) Johnston. She grew up in Lafayette and lived in Newton before settling in Branchville in 1962. Prior to her retirement, she was an organist at Lafayette Federated Church for 40 years and was a lifetime church member. She also worked as a Bookkeeper for James Lamwers Accounting earlier in her career and worked for Wards Flowers and Gifts later in her retirement, both in Newton. Ginny will always be remembered for being an amazing caregiver and her loving and warm hearted personality; she was always willing to help others in need and became an honorary "aunt" to so many.
The beloved wife of 45 years to the late William W. Berry, Ginny is survived by her daughter, Ellen B. Codella and her husband Joseph; her brother, Leland V. Iliff; her brother-in-law, Wayne Berry and his wife Rachel and many loving nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Ginny was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Iliff and her sister, Luthera Harris.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. Interment to follow at Newton Cemetery in Newton. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
