
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Abdel-Meguid Zakaria Erzinclioglu, who left us peacefully on October 27, 2025. A dedicated Civil and Geotechnical Engineer, he obtained his B.Sc. degree in Egypt and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the UK, emigrating to Canada in 1976. He worked at Acres International and Hatch Ltd. for 36 years, mostly on hydropower projects in design, construction, and management. For nine years before his retirement in 2012, he was responsible for all global hydro, wind, and solar power projects.
Zak is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Young. He leaves behind his children, Sanna, Osman (Julie), and Murad (Shantel), along with his cherished grandchildren, Maya, Desmond, and Ezmi. He was predeceased by his brother Yahya (Sharon). Uncle Guida/Uncle Zak will be remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by the Petraroia and Johnston families, as well as the extended Young family.
His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Family and friends will be received at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main Street, Niagara Falls, on Thursday, October 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A time of remembrance will follow in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Project SHARE and the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by Zak’s family.
Reception to follow from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Delphi Banquet Hall, 4414 Portage Road, Niagara Falls.
