Agnes was born in Chatham Ontario. She is a graduate of Victoria College, University of Toronto. Agnes was very proud to be a fifty-year member and past chair of the Canadian Federation of University Women, Niagara Branch. On graduating from university Agnes took the position of chemist at the Niagara Wire Weaving laboratory in Niagara Falls at which time she met her husband Edd. During their wonderful years together Agnes and Edd travelled extensively and shared a love of sailing at home and abroad. Agnes especially loved everything in nature and took great pleasure in gardens, trees and birds at home and in distant places. Agnes was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church and served on several church committees. She had a special interest in the outreach programs of the United Church Women and was honoured to receive a life time membership in the St. Andrew's UCW for her many years of work and dedication. Agnes was an active and generous contributor to her community for which she received the Order of Ontario, the province’s highest official honour, given to an individual who has demonstrated a high level of excellence and achievement benefiting the people of Ontario.
Agnes and her family are forever grateful to Donna Sherbok whose loving care made it possible for Agnes to stay in her home, attend lunches with her friends, and enjoy her life to the fullest . We also extend thanks to the dedicated staff of Seniors for Seniors and Care Partners for the help and attention that Agnes received. Agnes wished to thank her dear friend Sudha Upadhye and good neighbours Don and Kathy Pierson and Joyce and Gary Dunbar whose calls and visits were so appreciated particularly as she was increasingly at home.
