It is with deep sadness that I pass along the news that our dear Bev passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 17, 2022. Predeceased by her parents Hugh (1997) and Grace (1982) Bessey, sister Marion Proulx (2009) (Alex 2011), and brother Donald (2009) (Margaret 2020). Survived by many nieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren. Bev was the proud, doting Mama to her Schnauzer pups Molly and Emma, whom she loved and missed dearly.
Bev retired as a Loan Officer with the Scotiabank in 1998, after 39 years of service. Through the years she did volunteer work with the United Way, Coronation Centre, and Meals on Wheels. Bev had a great sense of humour, a love of good friends (of which she had many), and a full calendar. Trips to Australia, Iceland, the Rocky Mountaineer train excursion and so many places in between, including sunny, warm locales, highlighted her years of travelling. She was always up for a meal out and trekking to various events, near and far, with her group of friends. Movie nights, Netflix nights, and card games dotted her busy calendar. Fun filled afternoons were had celebrating the Kentucky Derby and Cinco de Mayo (Bev loved her Mint Juleps.), with her very best friend Silvija, and Sandra and Scott, who were family to her. Bev would have been the first to tell you that she’d had a great life. She got to do everything she’d wanted to, and loved doing it. No regrets.
A heartfelt thank you to Juravinski Cancer Centre, Walker Family Cancer Centre, St. Elizabeth Health Care, Home Community Care Support Services, Police and Paramedic responders. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and a private (by invitation only) Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. A livestream link to view the service can be found below in the Service information. Please consider sharing a story, condolence or tribute below as well. In honour, celebration and memory of Bev’s life, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be much appreciated.
