Predeceased by husband Harold (1989) and daughter Lorna (2021). Also predeceased by sister May of Grimsby, with whom she moved to Canada from Scotland. Predeceased by two other sisters and brothers in the UK. Survived by nephew Angus Gillespie of Niagara Falls, brother Alexander Hume in Scotland, nephew Mark Hume and nieces Isabelle MacDougall, Robyn Kitt and Kirsty Hume in the UK as well as nephews and nieces in Australia.
A former executive employee of the Niagara Region Health Department, Christine was a long-time dedicated volunteer for many charitable organizations and continued to do so into her 90s. She was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association and the local Legion. She also spent many years working with the Greater Niagara General Hospital Auxiliary. Christine enjoyed travelling and visited many places throughout the world. She also was an avid bowler, badminton player and swimmer.
Christine definitely made the most out of a wonderful life. Always lending a hand to help people, she touched the hearts of many family and friends and will be dearly missed. Forever with love in our hearts.
A gathering of family & friends for Christine will be held Monday, August 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ontario. There will be a Royal Canadian Naval Association service led by Padre Lois Dix in the Chapel at 11 AM. A burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 4501 Stanley Ave, Niagara Falls, Ontario at 1:15 PM.
