It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Danny on July 25, 2020 in his 57th year. Loving husband of Jeanne for 25 years. Proud dad of Kaitie and Emily. Adoring “Bop” to Ethan, Owen and Ava. Dear son of Marnie and the late George O’Kell. Survived by his mother-in-law, Carol Pedley. Favourite brother to Mary Jo and Maureen. Best friend to Zack, and formerly Jack and Taz. Danny will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family. Dan was a born and bred Niagara Falls boy. Growing up on Maitland St., playing minor hockey and baseball. As he got older it changed to ball hockey and golf. In the late 80’s, following in his father’s footsteps, he joined the Niagara Falls Hydro. He has spent more than 30 years doing a job he loved and working alongside many friends. During his down time, he could be found spending days on end up at the trailer with the grandkids or out running the dogs. He was also known to take the odd weekend trip with the boys for a round of golf. His priorities were always family and friends. We know he will be forever in the hearts and minds of his abundance of friends and coworkers. You would be hard pressed to find a more kind, generous or friendly man. A private for service for Danny will be held on Thursday July 30th at 2:00 pm. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. For those wishing to attend the service remotely please go to https://www.facebook.com/Hetherington-Deans-Funeral-Chapel-1074520596022950 In the words of Dan, if you can’t eat it, drink it or smoke it, don’t waste your money on it. So, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation, https://www.heartandstroke.ca/ or Jump Start, https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/ , would be appreciated.

Danny was such an awesome guy. I knew him from Stamford and have been friends every since. No matter where I rode my bike, or walked everyday he always just seemed to appear in that hydro truck with the horn blowing. I'll miss that big wave and smile. Rest in peace my good man. You'll be missed. I'm so sorry.

Dan was such a great guy, always made me feel special when we would run into each other. Reading these memories and condolences I see that it wasn't just me, he did that for everyone. We played hockey together as youngsters, and I would see him when he was working throughout the city. Gone too soon, he will be missed.

Hadn't seen Mush in many, many years (shortly after our Stamford High School days), but always thought highly of him, and thought of him as one of the good guys. I have nothing but great memories of him. So, so sorry for your loss, Maureen. My condolences to Jeanne and the rest of Danny's family.

Danny first appeared in Brantford in the early 90’s. We were all a little curious as to who he was and what his intentions were. It didn’t take long for us all to fall in love with Danny’s wit and charm. Danny and Jeanne eventually set up shop together in the falls. Danny was always there to welcome the Brantford crew into his home with a big bear hug and a yummy Ceaser. It’s hard to recall all the times we spent together. There is one thing for certain, it always involved a whole lot of fun and laughter.
Danny, you’ve left a beautiful legacy behind. I will think of you often and raise a glass in you memory.
Rest In Peace my friend ❤️

To the O’KELL’S: I have known Danny all his life. I was shocked and saddened to hear that he has passed. Growing up in a Hydro family his Dad George would come in on the big truck while mom and us kids were waiting for our dad Jigger. George would pick us up and toss us around. Danny and my brother were friends since they were almost babies and were co-workers for many years. Jeannie and Danny were adopted aunt and uncle to Will and Sam my niece and nephew. There were so many great memories and Danny will always hold a special place in my heart. My sincerest sympathy to his entire family. To my sweet Emily: you will always miss him and you are not alone. You have so many people who love you. XO

To Jeanne, Katie, Emily, Marnie and Dan's family.

My deepest condolences go out to all of you, through these words:

A life well-lived, leaves it's gentle pattern on the hearts of all...and the world is a lovelier place, because one person touched it with warmth and goodness and grace.

Dan touched so many people, with his love. He will be sadly missed.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers,
Love Loana
