Helen (Damjan) Stec

It is with saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Helen Stec (née Damjan) age 91, at Albright Manor on November 23, 2024. She has gone into eternity to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Passed on before are Helen’s husband Panto, brother Nicola Damjan, sister Ana Vatič, son William and grandsons Jason Patrick and Fraser William. She is lovingly remembered by her children Marian (Gerry), Ruth (John), Daniel (Dawn) and Peter (Debbie). A loving and attentive Grandma (Baba) to Kirstyn, Winsome, Max, Arabella, Noah, Rian and Haven. Also missed by nieces Eva, Slava and Jelena and brother-in-law, Luke and sister-in-law, Mary.

Helen was born in Ukraine and spent her early years in the former Yugoslavia, surviving WWII to live at a refugee camp before immigrating to Chile, SA then coming to Canada where she married and began a family. Settling in Niagara, Helen excelled in her specialties as an award winning seamstress and a dedicated wife, mom and homemaker. Her vegetable gardens were joyfully tended and their bounty was enjoyed by family and friends.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial gathering to celebrate Helen’s life will be arranged at a later date.
