

Horace Edward “Scope” Russell of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2026, at his home at River Road Retirement Residence, at the age of 97.
Predeceased by his beloved wife and dance partner Ann (2020), with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage, and by his eight brothers and sisters. Scope is lovingly remembered by his daughters Nancy Stewart (Don), Sally Russell, and Linda Misener (Mike). Cherished grandfather of Sarah (Andrew) and Emily Stewart (James), Whitney Stevens (Nick), Nicholas de St. Croix, Jordin and Bradley Misener (Kaitlyn). Proud great-grandfather of Abigail and Russell Misener, and Eleanor Stevens. He will also be remembered by his sisters-in-law Betty Rienzo (Victor), Helen Letourneau (Claude), many nieces and nephews, dear friends and neighbours.
Born and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, where Scope spent many years serving his community as a volunteer firefighter. He enjoyed a long career with Bell Canada, and an equally long and happy retirement, especially on the golf course. Scope and Ann were longtime members of the Niagara Falls German Canadian Club, where they shared countless weekends dancing and enjoying time with friends and family.
Known as the family “Mr. Fix-it”, Scope loved woodworking, whistling, singing, and dancing. He also embraced adventure later in life, discovering a passion for skydiving at the young age of 80.
Scope was a great storyteller. We hope you may recall a story he shared with you.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
