Irene Agnes Elliott

May 16, 1912- October 6, 2015

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Irene at Extendicare Nursing Home in Hamilton, Ontario at the age of 103. Predeceased by her husband Marvin (1970) and daughter Marilyn Mashford (1986). Survived by her son, Ron (Mary) Elliott and daughter Linda Elliott. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Judy (Chris) Riege, Karen Elliott (Sean Lumb), Sherry Elliott and Cheryl (Geoff) Holton. Great-Grandma to Scott, Marin, Maia, Eden, Jordan and Gerrid.

Irene worked as personnel and office manager for 30 years at Rosberg’s Department Store in Niagara Falls. She was very proud of her community and gave back to it as a charter member of the local Pilot Club serving in most executive positions including three times as its president, as well as a District Governor and on International committees. Served as a Director of the YWCA and on the advisory board of Niagara College of Applied Arts. Irene was an active member of St. Andrews United Church for many years. After retirement she remained active in bowling and golf until 80 and travelled extensively throughout the world.

The family will receive visitors at HETHERINGTON AND DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls, on Tuesday October 13th from 11:00am – 12:00pm with a Funeral Service to take place in the Chapel at 12:00pm. Private interment to take place following. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
