COLLINS, James 'Jimmy' - Passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday April 30, 2023, just fourteen days after his 92nd birthday. He has gone to meet his beloved wife, Phyllis (nee Stewart, January 2022), who he missed dearly. Father of Drew Collins, Jamie Collins, Maureen (Andy) Mastrandrea, loving grandpa of Jack and Alex Mastrandrea. He will be fondly remembered by brother John (Phyllis), as well as many family and friends from around the world. Predeceased by his parents Peter and Annie (nee McIntyre), siblings Peter, Peggy and Frank. Born in Maryhill, Glasgow, Scotland and raised in Lambhill, Glasgow, Scotland, Dad was a proud Scotsman. he was grateful to have married Mum and to have made the move to Canada to build a life together. He will be dearly missed by Drew, Maureen, Andy, and his grandsons who he loved so much. He was very proud of the young men that they had become. Dad was a brilliant man, there was nothing that he couldn't do. He was respected by tradesmen, scholars, businessmen and doctors. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. During his military service, he was a member of the shooting team with the Royal Signals and was a paratrooper with the Airborne. He wanted to have one more jump out of an airplane when he was 80, but Mum wouldn't let him. His passion was genealogy, researching not only his own family tree, but doing the same for anyone who asked. He spent many hours in libraries in Canada and Scotland digging into family trees. More than this, his favorite thing to do was travel with Mum. His goal for their retirement was to travel, and travel they did - unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to that. Mum and Dad are dancing together again. Rest in Peace, Dad, you will be missed. Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday May 13, 2023 at 12 pm at St. Patrick's Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery, where he will be reunited with his beloved wife. Arrangements entrusted to the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls.
