Janice Marie Bailey

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Janice Marie Bailey at Hospice Niagara surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Ivo and Vera, and by her partner of 31 years, Lester Snow. Loving and cherished mother of Tara Bailey. Beloved stepmother of Laura Kennedy (Evan) and Bill Snow (Lee-Ann). Dearest sister of Tony Gambarotto (late Leanne), JoAnne Gambarotto-McKay (late Craig), Cindy Gambarotto (Ali Uzunoz), and Mike Gambarotto (Kathy). Fond Auntie Jan to 4 nephews, 4 nieces, and 3 great-nieces. She will be missed by her dear aunt Ann Miscevich, large extended family of cousins, and long-time friends. She leaves her precious cat Fuji and sweet grand-dog Niko.

Jan trained in Toronto as an x-ray and ultrasound technician. Her career was spent in hospitals in Toronto and around the Niagara region for nearly 40 years.

Jan was well known for her generous caring spirit. She was a dedicated daughter, fun and loving sister, and devoted mother. Her renowned culinary skills involved maintaining traditional family recipes such as our special stuffed olives for which she was the olive peeler extraordinaire. As the “kin-keeper” of the large Gambarotto family, she hosted many happy holiday family dinners. She had an unsurpassed love of cats.

Special thanks go to Dr. Robert Dinniwell, Nurse Lee-Ann Snow, the Radiation Oncology Department of the Walker Family Cancer Centre, and the amazing compassionate staff of Hospice Niagara.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Niagara or the Niagara SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation is at Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St, Niagara Falls on Friday May 1, 2026 from 1 – 3 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life chapel service and reception. A private family interment will take place at a future date.
