June Elizabeth West

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of June Elizabeth West, nee Hanna, in her 94th year, on Thursday, April 14th, at Northland Pointe, in Port Colborne, Ontario.

June will be sorely missed as a loving mother to Arlene and Randall Garrett, a devoted gammy to Elizabeth Garrett and her partner Russell Ohrt and a dear great-grandmother to Finnegan, Elias and Beatrix Ohrt. June is predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Allan Cass West (2011), as well as her parents, William and Harriet Hanna, her brothers, Jack, Marcus, Orrin, and Norman Hanna, and her sisters Nora Bale, Lola Storey, Harriet Thomson, and Maxine Jolley McNally. She is survived by her sister-in-law Alice Hanna and many nieces and nephews.

June was born and raised in Niagara Falls, which she called home for 89 years until she entered care facilities. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Rolling Meadows Golf Club and the Foresters.

Our grateful appreciation is given to the staff of Northland Pointe for their dedication and care, as well as our heartfelt thanks go to her loving friend, Karen Van Gool, who visited June daily. The compassion shown by all has been of great comfort.

Visitation will be held at HETHERINGTON AND DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 17th with the funeral service on Monday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Northland Pointe, St. Andrew's United Church or the charity of choice.
