Laurene Zavitz

On Sunday October 17, 2010, at Pleasant Manor in Virgil, Ida Laurene (Rene) Zavitz (nee Shuttler) peacefully completed her life’s journey. Rene was born December 7, 1915, in Hamilton and shortly thereafter the family moved to Niagara Falls, where she remained until 2001, when she took up residence in Virgil. She was a former member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Niagara Peninsula Shrine Club. A valued long time member of Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church she served as Clerk of Session for many years and held the honourable position of Elder Emeritus. Rene is predeceased by her husband Hugh M. Zavitz (1994), and is survived by her son Robert (Kathy), Orchard Park, N.Y., daughters, Shirley Shillito (Michael), Sun City Ca., Barbara Cotton, North Vancouver B.C. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Predeceased are her brothers Delbert and John (Joe) Shuttler.

Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Drummond Hill Presbyterian Church on Tuesday October 26, 2010, at 1 PM. Private Interment will take place in Lundy’s Lane Cemetery.
