Margaret 'Joan' Zimmerman

ZIMMERMAN, Margaret 'Joan' (nee Pearson) - (May 24, 1929- March 13, 2024) - Surrounded by family, Joan, our mom, mother-in-law, gramma and GG passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Our mom lived a long life dedicated to her family and to her community. She was born to Walter and Margaret Pearson on Victoria Day, 1929 and was doted upon by her grandparents, Robert and Joan Jardine. Joan is survived by Jana (Bill Mitchell), Alyson (Robert Crawford) and Mark. Our mom traveled, spent summers up north and was a great cook. Her love of gardening, games and baking has been passed down to all those who were fortunate enough to know her. Many friends looked forward to her yearly gift of shortbread. Joan led an independent life filled with positivity, love and perseverance. So at the age of 47, she returned to work to provide for her youngest children; an accomplishment of which she was so proud. Mom made beautiful memories with her grandchildren; Shannon Mitchell (Sean), Brendan Mitchell (Katie), Cameron and Claire Crawford (Spencer), Matthew, Zachary, Zebrina and Calluna Zimmerman. She enjoyed watching her greats; Owen, Liam, Henry, Niibin and Nodin grow and flourish. She will be fondly remembered by Gordon Zimmerman and his family. We wish to acknowledge the care and kindness of the entire Trillium staff, especially the MAiD Team, who worked tirelessly to make our mother’s final journey so dignified, loving and respectful. We are truly grateful. Our families will set off fireworks yearly in her memory to celebrate a life well lived and well loved. Cremation has taken place.
