CARLUCCI, Maria Ernestina (nee Castrilli) (October 21, 1922 - March 5, 2021) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother at the Meadows of Dorchester on Friday March 5, 2021. Maria was born in S. Maria del Molise, Italy on October 21, 1921 and immigrated to Canada in 1954 to a little town called Ignace. Beloved wife of the late Nicolino 'Nick' Mario Carlucci (2002). Loving mother of Annina (Liberato) Zappitelli, Michael (Luisa) Carlucci and Olga (William) Dove. Cherished Nonna of Nick (Sylvia) Zappitelli, Michael (Krista) Zappitelli, Steven (Lisa Paine) Carlucci, Nicole (Adam) Lewis. Bella Nonna to Anthony and Vincent Carlucci, Arianna and Maximus Zappitelli, Cadence Lewis and Nonna to step-grandchildren Kaitlyn (Tom) and Sarah Smith and Bella Nonna to great-grandchild Mackenzie Smith. Survived by her brother John (Michelina) Castrilli, sisters-in-law Maria Pizzi, Christina (Giacomo) Pizzi, and brothers-in-law Tony Carlucci/Adeline and Luigi Carlucci. Maria will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceased by her infant daughter Laura, grandchild Nicholas Carlucci (2/2016), her parents Antonio and Domenica Castrilli, her in-laws Michael and Laura Carlucci, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rose/Octavio Carlucci, Carmine/Alex Carlucci, Mike Pizzi, Giovannina Pinelli, Addolorata Carlucci and Anna Carlucci. Her greatest fulfillment was being around her family, tending to her many varieties of flowers, and her large vegetable garden, which was her pride and joy. She also loved sewing, crocheting and knitting. Maria was a woman of small stature; meticulous in all she did with her hair, how she dressed with much attention to detail…she was fussy. Maria also took pleasure in going on pilgrimage/Religious events and accompanying the singing groups at these events and she was a very devoted member of Our Lady of the Scapular Church. Our family cannot express enough gratitude to all of the staff at The Meadows of Dorchester for the gentleness, thoughtfulness, kindheartedness and attention that they have shown Maria and the family, most especially when Maria was in a palliative state, the comfort, compassion and care they provided us. Maria had some special people that she loved and respected for all they did for her stay while at Meadows, she leaves you with that gentle smile. Words are easy to say and print, please know that Meadows of Dorchester staff will always stay in our hearts. Respecting the government restrictions of COVID-19, including the requirement of pre-booked appointments (by calling 905-358-3513 between 9 am and 5 pm), friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, for visitation Tuesday from 10 am to 1 pm. A private Funeral Mass in celebration of Maria's life will be held at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maria can be made to Our Lady of the Scapular Church. Online condolences at pattersonfuneralhome.com
