Peacefully passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family, in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (2015). Loving Dad of Sean (Kim) and Kimberley (Stan) Sowinski. Cherished Poppa of Liam and Christopher Sowinski. Dear brother of Mary (Doug) Ransom. Mike will be remembered by his cousins Pat and Gary Ward, Pam and Ed Gotts and his extended family and dear friends.
Mike was actively involved in his community throughout his life, most notably the Niagara Regional Police Pipe Band, the City of Thorold Pipe Band and Heart Niagara. He was a Paramedic in Niagara until his retirement.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Ave (Niagara Falls). A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. By mandate from the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, funeral homes have the option to provide a choice to families to open visitations and funeral services to full capacity providing that all patrons have proof of Covid19 double vaccination. Those who wish to attend the visitation and service for Mike must provide proof of double vaccination, government issued photo identification and wear a face mask.
