Bob passed after months of failing health at the age of 89. He died peacefully with family by his side caring for him along with nurse Pretty of St. Elizabeth, the PSW’s of Bayshore and the wonderful Janet who coordinated it all. We are also grateful for the caring staff who got to know Bob during his stay at Lundy Manor.
Bob was the first born of Nancy and Robert Cook in Niagara Falls, Ontario. As a very young man of fourteen, he learned to work hard at the CNR to help his widowed mother and siblings. In 1952, he met the love of his life, Jean Fisher and they were married in September of that same year. A wonderful marriage that lasted 53 years until the passing of Jean in 2005. Besides his children and grandchildren, his favourite things in life were the Masons and the Shriners, where he moved up the ranks with his beloved wife Jean by his side. Close to his heart, was also the Amaranth, where Bob was by Jeans side as she moved up the ranks. He was a diehard fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Buffalo Bills. When it came to baseball season, he was always showing his support wearing his Blue Jays t-shirt and hat.
Bob is survived by his daughter Deborah (Jimmy) Johnson, sons; Ian (Anne-Marie) Cook and Carl (Eleanor) Cook, as well as his five loving grandchildren and nine adoring great grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Sandra Cook, brothers; Roger (Jackie) Cook and David Cook. Forever remembered by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and Masonic Brethren. Bob will be deeply missed by his dear friend and companion Shirley Larman Stewart. He will live in the hearts and minds of the loving family he has left behind.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Canada.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the Cook family.
