

Sunny was born in Chungshan, China, he later went seeking bigger opportunities in Hong Kong and worked in the shipping industry with American Steamlines. After a long courtship, he married his childhood sweetheart Judy.
After the marriage of his sister(Suzy) to David, the Lew family of Jade Garden Restaurant of Niagara Falls, Canada. Envisioning a better life for his family Sunny moved the family to Niagara Falls, Canada with the help of his brother in law David. Sunny then learned the restaurant business at Rose Garden/Jade Garden and met and made many friends from the area.
When the opportunity to open up a restaurant of their own, he and his partners founded Ho Ho's(later renamed Beijing Gardens) in Fort Erie, where he greeted many guests and friends. He avidly enjoyed fishing, photography, walks and his daily coffee.
Sunny is survived by his wife Judy, late sister Suzy(late husband David and daughter Tammy), brothers Tim (wife Nancy, children Donald and Sarah), Paul(wife Cathee, children Bernice(Quezar) and Tim) sons Peter, Tommy, Jimmy, daughter-in law Kim, grand children Madelyn and Alex.
Friends and family will be received at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls on Friday February 6, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am. A funeral will be held in the chapel at 11:00am followed by an interment at Fairview Cemetery.
