Vernice Marie Sharkey

1935 – 2016

Peacefully, surrounded by her children, Vernice passed away July 3, 2016. She will be greatly missed by her children; Terrence (Diane), Marilyn, Karen (Gary), and Diane. Grandmother to Christopher (Margaret) and Cameron (Natalie) Sharkey; and Brandon and Shaleen Stewart. Proud great-grandma of Tomas Sharkey and Lucy Sharkey. Special “Kitty Grandma” of Spring. Predeceased by her son David (2011), and former husband Thomas (1990).

Vernice was a long time employee at Bell Canada as an operator and supervisor until her retirement in 1995. She will be remembered for her sharp tongue and acerbic wit.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at HETHERINGTON & DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave. (905-354-5614). A Funeral Celebration will take place at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. Donations to the Niagara Falls Humane Society, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated.
