

After a long and happy life, Viola passed away peacefully on November 19, 2017 at the age of 101 years. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Viola was Baptized on June 24, 1917 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 10 Trinity Square, Toronto, Ontario which is Toronto’s oldest Church. She is predeceased by her parents Agnes Gertrude (nee Underwood) and Harry Henry McDonald, brothers Harold (Leila) McDonald, Daniel “D.J.” (Bette) McDonald and sisters Daisy (Allan) Murray, Evelyn “Dolly” (Bill) Fitzgibbon, nieces Marilyn (Gordon) McKay and Aileen (Jim) West.
Viola is survived by her sister Marjorie Beatrice McDonald and nephews Barry (Minda) McDonald, Brian (Marlene) McDonald, nieces Nancy (Scott) Laird, Colleen (John) Franz.
Great-Nieces and Nephews, Laurie (Brian) McDonald, Racine (Frank) Auld, Tracey (Jerry) Perlic, Chris (Tammy) McDonald, Karen (Stuart) Kyle, John (Eleanor) West, Kirk (Melanie) Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Spencer, Jaimie and Geordie Laird.
Great-Great Nieces and Nephews Callie and Chase McDonald, Shannon Cammenzuli, Ethan and Noah Perlic, Hannah Wilson and Zachary Karcher.
After completing her school education, Viola began her career at the Canadian Company Gundy-Clapperton that was founded in 1905 and operated in Toronto to 1931 where Viola learned her skilled craft of Crystal Cutter while she meticulously hand cut the exquisite patterns of Cross and Olive and Pinwheel onto Crystal Stemware, Plates, Bowls, etc . Gundy-Clapperton later became Kenneth M. Smith Glass Company where Viola worked full-time until she retired at 75 years of age. After her retirement, Viola and her sister Marjorie moved from Toronto to Niagara Falls where Viola attended Christ Church, 4750 Zimmerman Avenue in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Viola and her sister Marjorie were avid volunteers and Bridge Card Game Players.
In keeping with Violas wishes, cremation and a celebration of her long life will be held at CHRIST CHURCH, 4750 Zimmerman Avenue, Niagara Falls, Ontario on Saturday December 9th, 2017 at 11:00am with visitation beginning an hour prior at 10:00am
