Those who knew you were better for it. You had an infectious smile. You are very much missed this Christmas season.

You were an amazing Grandpa and friend! You were a giving person who enjoyed seeing others happy. Thank-you for the time that you were eager to invest in me. I miss you incredibly but am glad that you've found some rest.

When anyone ask about family. I would look at Frances and Ferg this is my family.It was a honour to have Ferg in my life.Frances had a light in her eyes when she look at Ferg.Now she will keep Ferg in her heart. I will miss the talks the card games. But mostly i will miss you.Rest now everyone will hold Frances hand now.

Honey its hard to believe three weeks have come and gone since your pain and suffering stopped. You dealt with your pain quietly and with dignity. You never complained, you didnt know the difference from level two or ten, I do
know my pain level is ten, I miss your 
smile, your sense of humor, your ability to make people laugh, those three little words I Love You. One thing I know for sure no one can ever erase the memories we made together, and for that I will always be grateful.

Well Ferg you will be dearly missed. I will remember you always especially since you christened my first  salon properly...Ferg style! Having a pedicure...but with a can of beer! Love the girls at Gloss

Grandpa Ferguson,

I loved you, admired you, and respected you so very much! A few words certainly don't do your life justice or begin to explain how you positively impacted my life. It was an honour to know such a kind-hearted man who was quick to apologize when he hurt someone he loved. You knew you weren't perfect and were very accepting of others and their imperfections except when it hurt those you loved. Loving and being loved were the most important things in life to you, and you were loved by many people more than you realized. 

I have so much to thank you for. Thank-you for being a friend to me. Thank-you for teaching me the game of darts and that it's healthy to relax and enjoy life (I met my beautiful wife and daughter because of this). Thank-you for sharing Grandma's and your home with me here in the Falls. Thank-you for all the time you spent with me over the years --- family get togethers, working on a project, playing darts, having a few drinks, listening to country music, or just talking about life or talking 'sense' as you called it --- and these and other amazing memories that I now have because of you. Time spent with you was always time well spent (ok, maybe once or twice we drank a few too many, but like you used to say, I wouldn't change this for anything).


You cannot ever be replaced and I will always miss you,

We didn't know Ferg personally but the Staff at Zehrs at the courtesy desk will miss seeing his smiling face. He was such a lovely person, and we loved when he came in with his lottery tickets. We will miss you and may you rest in peace...From the girls at Zehrs

My fondest memories of Grandpa are when we would sit down in his garage and share a conversation when I was a teenager and mostly up to no good.Grandpa or Grandad as I began to call him would always talk sense.I will always have a lot of respect and love for him.-Dan Osborne

It was a great pleasure knowing Ferg. Out of pain and now into the great beyond.


Fond memories of Grandpa are not lacking from my mind. He always had a trucker hat on to compliment his ear to ear grin. Whether he was poking me with his fork to remind me that elbows don't belong on the table or belting out Shania Twain song with me, I always knew Grandpa  loved me.  I often think back to my sleep overs at Grandma and Grandpas and Remember waking up early and finding Grandpa sitting on the couch after a long midnight shift from the mill. He would always turn on the cartoons for me to watch until Grandma awoke.  Grandpa loved to tinker in his garage and build and fix things for his family. He also loved to take us to  collect pop cans on the side of the road. He showed me what it means to work hard yet how to sit and relax. Grandpa loved to play card games and darts and was eager to teach any one of his Grandkids to play if we showed interest. A stickler for game rules Grandpa taught me what it ment to lose well and how to win graciously fairly. He loved to poke fun at all of his Grandkids and try and get a rise out of us.
Grandpa, you where a family man, a gentleman, provider, comedian, carpenter, and my friend.   Thank you for teaching me the art of heckling others while card play,and for teaching me to put family first. I'm greatful for the time we spent together last August (2014) and will cherish those memories and memories before that dearly. Thank you for being true to who you were.  I will miss you immensely and love you deeply. Until we meet again!

I have so many memories of my grandpa, that it would be hard to choose just one to share. Grandpa was many things to me, he was a teacher, a craftsman, an example and a family man. I can remember many nights gatherings as a family in grandma and grandpas house with cousins, aunts and uncles. Grandpa always enjoyed spending time with his family. I remember lingering around the dining room table watching intently as the adults bantered back and forth, filling the house with laughter as they played a competitive but honest game of cards. Often you could wander down to the basement to find the men playing darts. I would watch with careful eyes curious at how they could throw perfectly. I fondly remember how if you entered his shop, where he spent many hours, at just the right time you would catch grandpa singing softly along to willie Nelson, Alan Jackson and many other country artists. He would be sat up one foot on the crossbar of his stool, tapping the other on the floor along with the beat of the tune. Grandpa was a wonderful carpenter. He carefully crafted many wooden cars, cradles and other beautiful things for his grandchildren. If you asked him to grandpa would make just about anything for you. He would give to his family selflessly. Grandpa always loved to tease his grandchildren with a twinkle in his eye just to see what kind of witty remark we could come back with. I will always cherish summer of 2014 when I was able to share my home with my grandpa and Nana. My children were able to make memories with him and I am so thankful for that. I am so blessed to have been able to share one last night with grandpa playing darts in my garage. We were up half the night but as tired as he was he never complained. We spent a day with a photographer creating memories that we will never experience again. Grandpa was so willing even though he always hated being fussed over. Grandpa, you are loved beyond words and your absence will forever leave a void in my heart, you will be dearly missed. Thank you for loving on my family. Thank you for teaching me to laugh until my belly hurts. Thank you for showing me that sometimes when you are faced with a crappy situation, all you have to do is cover it up with perfume and lots of it. Thank you for loving me through all my flaws. Thank you for just being you. I will love you always. See you in Heaven, and I can't wait!

Loved and missed by all! I wish I could have told you I loved you one last time! I was always cherish the memories we had together. You will always be close to my heart! I'll wear your dog tag and be proud of you have done in you life! Grandpa I love see to death, I'll see you soon

Forty-six years ago a 22 year old sailor married my mom becoming my step-father. I have such respect for him, taking on not only a wife but 5 children too.
Over the years he not only became provider, protector, teacher, best friend, but also grandfather, great-grandfather, and to me, most important of all, my DAD. I could go to him for anything and he never turned me away. His love was unconditional.
Friday, September 11, 2015 my dad quietly passed away, losing his battle with cancer. He is no longer in pain!
I love him so much and will miss him tremendously as will the rest of his four children (my brothers) and many grandchildren. The memories we have all built personally, individually, and as a family are unforgettably filled with laughter and tears.
I am sad for this loss but my heart is so happy because my dad asked Jesus into his heart. I know I will see dad again in heaven with my mom and other family members.

It was a pleasure to know Ferg. Enjoyed  the  time  we spent together when you and Frances came to Port Elgin.

Dear Grandpa,
I couldn't say goodbye when I wrote. I couldn't write that letter. I wasn't ready to. I'm still not. So instead I will say thank you. When I was a child, life meant scraped knees, squabbles with friends, camping, school, and Friday night dinners at grandma and grandpas house. I didn't know at the time that not everyone was able to form such a close bond with their grandparents, but now that I am an adult, I can see how lucky I was. Grandpa, you loved to tell stories and make everyone laugh. You taught me at a young age that laughter was the best medicine. You loved unconditionally. Even when you were hurt, your love for your family never faltered. Your grandchildren were your treasures, your great grandchildren were a joy to you. You loved fiercely. I saw you constantly protect and defend your grandchildren when you felt they had been wronged. You loved unselfishly. I watched you work long hours to give grandma, uncle Stan, and anyone else you could, the things in life they needed and wanted. You were a provider. You were creative and a great carpenter. Always building something. Always puttering. You taught me to work hard but also to live life. That it was ok to take time to relax and build memories with the people you love. You never let me win at games. This might seem small, but in doing so, you taught me that winning felt best when you earned it, and to always be a gracious winner and loser. You taught me that family always comes first and that life is meant to be lived, experienced, embraced, and challenged. None of us get out alive, and we shouldn't take ourselves, or life, too seriously. I love you, Grandpa. I'll miss your stories and hearing your voice. I'll miss seeing you, but I know you are always with me because I know that part of me is you.

Having known Ferg for only a short time, I feel extremely blessed to have been welcomed into his home and given the opportunity to get to know him. His smile and laughter were contagious, his kind heart never wavered from the conversations we had to the games of 3-13 we played, but what I will always remember is the love he shared with Nana. You are truly one of a kind. Although you may be gone from our sight, you will never be gone from our hearts.

You were my life, my world and my best friend. For eight wonderful years I got to share your joy and your sorrow. I got to know what an incredible man you were. I am grateful for the memories we made together, for your unconditional love and the knowledge that you loved me. Never a day went by when you didn't tell me.
