

PEDERSEN-HYDE, Wyona - Was born into eternal life on Tuesday August 20, 2024 at the age of 72, surrounded by her family. Cherished wife of Gary Hyde. Loving sister to Donna Keenan, Gail Corney, Arnold Pedersen, Randy (Michelle) Pedersen and Fr. Derek Pedersen. Sister-in-law to David and Buffy Hyde, and Mark Hyde. Predeceased by her parents Arnold and Elizabeth (nee Senese) Pedersen. Wyona is also remembered by many nieces and nephews and fondly remembered by her many friends and neighbours. Wyona began her career at Zippo Canada working as a secretary until she gradually became General Manager of Zippo Canada for 16 years. It was at Zippo where she met her husband Gary. Together, Wyona and Gary owned Falls Wholesale Ltd. and Hyde's Distribution. Wyona and Gary were married for 23 years and they built a beautiful life together. Wyona and Gary were snowbirds and often travelled to Myrtle Beach where they enjoyed playing golf together and going out for dinner with friends. Wyona loved her beloved shih tzu dog Sophie. Wyona truly was a very brave soul. When Wyona was afflicted by Stage 3B lung cancer, she faced the crisis with a strong will to live and she beat cancer and lived cancer free for 23 years until she succumbed to heart problems. Wyona was grateful for the life she lived and she commented that she had a good life. During her retirement, Wyona took online courses in interior decorating and helped design and decorate homes for friends and family members. Wyona was a philanthropist. She enjoyed working with Todd Bright and Gary to help distribute funds to organizations throughout the community. Wyona contributed to the building of the Hyde-Pedersen Fitness Centre at Stamford Collegiate, of which she was a graduate, and she also contributed to Forest View school where the Library is co-named in her honour. She was always willing to help those in need. Wyona will be remembered as a kind, honest and caring person. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Lung Clinic in St. Catharines, as well as at Hamilton General Hospital, who cared for Wyona in her final days. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Saturday August 24, 2024 from 12 to 3 pm. A Funeral Service in celebration of her life will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home. A private family Rite of Committal will take place at a later date in Fairview Cemetery.
