She was born on December 25, 1948, in Key West, FL, the daughter of Oskar and Marion (Tremblay) Baker.
Bonnie graduated from New London High School in 1966, which is where she met the love of her life, Gary Han. Bonnie and Gary were high school sweethearts who married in 1967 and were happily married for over 54 years. Bonnie and Gary were a devoted couple who were inseparable and often found happily holding hands while wearing matching shirts.
Bonnie dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was always unbelievably proud of her daughters and her grandchildren. She enjoyed walking and loved spending time with her family, baking for them and cheering them on through all the big and small moments of their lives. Bonnie was especially close to her younger sister Cindy and considered her a daughter too. She welcomed everyone into her home. Many of her daughters’ friends spent a lot of time at Bonnie’s house and became bonus daughters to both Bonnie and Gary. All have fond memories of spending time at their house, especially by the pool in the summertime.
When Bonnie’s girls were grown, she began a career in banking at Liberty Bank in East Lyme. She enjoyed her many years working at the bank and especially the relationships she made with many customers who became her friends. In her golden years, Bonnie and Gary began new adventures by traveling in their RV across the country where they made new cherished friends who really have become their second family - while wintering together in Texas. Whether Bonnie was in Texas or East Lyme, she stayed connected to her girls with daily text messages that will be greatly missed.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Gary R. Han; daughters Cheryl Smith and her husband Greg, Brenda Rarogiewicz, all of East Lyme, and Tina Olsen of Niantic; siblings David Baker and his wife Doreen of Fairfield and Cynthia Mahn and her husband William of Uncasville; grandchildren Antonio and Wyatt Smith, Kara Peterson, Jarrett, Kyle, and Emily Rarogiewicz, Christopher and Alaina Olsen.
She was predeceased by her siblings Phillip Baker and Suzanne Mariano.
