Niantic- Clifford “Bud” Lamourine was born June 4, 1935 in New London, CT, the middle son of Clifford and Estella Duncklee Lamourine. He graduated from New London High School, Class of 1953. Auto mechanics was his calling as he completed his courses at GM Training Center in Boston and then his apprenticeship at B&R Motors. He later operated his own business for 25 years as Colonial Texaco in Niantic.
Bud married Jacqueline Ebersole in 1956 and is the father of three children, Gregory (Dory), Beverly, and Jodi all of Niantic, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, John of Ledyard and Richard of Old Lyme.
He was a proud member of the Niantic Fire Department for over 60 years, having served as president for 16 years. In 1972 he was honored with the East Lyme Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Citizen of the Year” Award for his many community contributions through the Fire Department, Lion's Club and Chamber of Commerce. His post retirement jobs included Maintenance Supervisor at the EL Community Center, and part-time employment at Ring's End Lumber.
Bud enjoyed his many motorhome travels around the country as well as vacationing in Europe, Bermuda, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Mediterranean. However, just as much joy for him were fishing trips with his buddies, including bass fishing in local ponds with his fellow fishermen, Michael Pierangelo, or perhaps grandson, Jason. Bud was a man of many talents and could be counted on to fix or build almost anything - that might include some plumbing, some carpentry, some mechanics, or just some plain old Yankee ingenuity. At holiday time you might find him making his wonderful shortbread cookies for the church fair, as well as for family and friends, or working on Bob Pfanner's float for the light parade. Needless to say, he will be greatly missed for many reasons.
Calling Hours for Bud will be at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic, on Wednesday, August 22 from 5-7pm, and a Memorial Service at Niantic Baptist Church, 443 Main St., Niantic on Thursday, August 23 at 11:30 am.
Donations may be made in Bud's memory to the Niantic Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 502, Niantic CT 06357 or Niantic Fire Department, 8 Grand St., Niantic CT 06357.
How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness, how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?
