

We announce the death of Domenica Lipari, 92, of Waterford, CT, with both deep sadness that she is no longer with us and great appreciation that we were blessed with her for so many years. She was born in Passaic, NJ on January 30, 1933 to Mauro and Jennie Cannizzaro, who had immigrated to the United States from Italy.
Domenica was a retired bookkeeper who enjoyed playing Bingo and Pokeno and listening to music, especially when performed live. She had a warmth and generosity of spirit that drew people to her wherever she was. Small gestures of kindness were her currency. Her favorite thing was the company of friends and family.
She is survived by her brother, Patrick Cannizzaro of Manchester, NJ; her beloved children, John Cassidy (Ann) of Boston, MA, Tim Cassidy (Stephanie) of Tolland, CT and Jennifer Hunter of Niantic, CT; loving grandchildren, Nicholas (Kaele), Benjamin, CJ and Brianna Cassidy, and Trevor and Savannah Hunter; and cherished great-grandchildren Reese, James and Brynn Cassidy; dear stepchildren Joseph Lipari (Rea), Nancy Lipari, John Lipari (Karen), Frank Lipari, Jr. (Michelle); loving step-grandchildren, Joseph, Jr., Michael and Kristy Lipari, Sarah Stack, David Pellicier, Theresa Oliveira, Ashley, Lauren, Mack and Gabriella Lipari. Domenica was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Frank, Angelina, Michael, Harry, John and Frances, Domenica’s twin sister, who died at three months old.
Domenica lived for a significant number of years in the NJ cities of Clifton, Hardyston and Riverdale as well as in Niantic, CT. Most recently, she resided at Atria Crossroads Place in Waterford, CT, where she forged close friendships with several fellow residents as well as deep connections with a few staff members.
Domenica raised her three children in Clifton, NJ with her sister, Angelina and Angelina’s husband, Chester Walkowitz, who also predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 11:00 am at Saint Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Avenue, Niantic, CT with burial to follow at Union Cemetery in Niantic.
