
She was born in Old Lyme on April 17, 1911, the daughter of William and Henrietta Brooks.
Doris and her husband operated a food concession on the Boston Post Rd. in Flanders for many years before traffic was rerouted to Interstate 95. They also served as custodians at the Flanders Baptist Church from 1958 to 1974, where she was a member. Doris had lived independently for 99 1/2 years, and was excited to celebrate her 100th birthday in April.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Carl, sister Helen Ebersole, and brothers Paul, Howard, Cecil, Fred and John Brooks. She is survived by a niece Jacqueline Lamourine, and nephews Victor, William and Frederick Ebersole.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10am in Flanders Baptist Church, Boston Post Rd., East Lyme. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford.
