

Dorothy Sistare King, 85, of Waterford, CT passed away this past Friday, May 1st. Dorothy was born to Henry and Beatrice (Marean) Sistare in New London, CT on June 10, 1929. She married Richard E. King on April 4, 1948 in Lakes Pond Baptist Church in Waterford, CT. They enjoyed over 61 years of marriage.
Dorothy enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life, and loved taking care of her family and friends. She had a gift for knitting, quilting, gardening, and baking for her loved ones. She was an active member of the Flanders Baptist and Community Church. She was thankful to live in Niantic, and took regular walks along the beaches for as long as she could. In her final years, her face always brightened when she was visited by family and friends, and furry pets.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Betty Rogers of Niantic, CT, her son Brian A. King of Waterford, her daughter Holly S. Coleman of Niantic, five grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Dorothy will be held on Saturday May 9, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Flanders Baptist and Community Church on Boston Post Road in East Lyme. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private.
