Mrs. Mason was born on January 7, 1926 in New Britain the daughter of Augustas and Mary Bennett. She is predeceased by her husband George Mason in 1988. She was employed as a Switchboard Operator starting at the Connecticut State Farm for Women and later at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1986.
Although she grew up in New Britain, she was fortunate to spend her childhood summers at the beach in Niantic where she eventually became a permanent resident. She loved her “little town by the sea”. During the summers and when not working, Eileen as a young woman could be found at McCooks Beach with her friends and relatives or clamming and crabbing on the Pattagansett River. The Mason family clambakes were the best. In her later years, her love of flower gardening became her passion and a great source of pride as were her clothing treasures found at local consignment shops. Shopping and lunch with friends always brought her great joy as long as everyone rode in her red convertible.
She was a very loving, caring and compassionate lady who was always there for her neighbors, relatives and friends.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her son Roger Mason and daughter in law Wendy Merrill- Mason of Niantic, three grandchildren, Sara, Kimberly and Alyson, step granddaughters Sarah and Stephanie, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her special niece Nancy Moriarty.
