

She was born on August 31, 1929, in Hackney, England, the daughter of Henry Bell and Leah Rubenstein Bell.
She was the widow of Charles Lawrence Hunter and Charles Edward Newbury.
Mrs. Newbury was employed for many years as a nurses aid. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, as well as bird-watching, traveling, and going to the theater. She loved decorating the Christmas tree, and spending holidays with her family. Guinness was her favorite drink, and she loved to laugh.
She is survived by her sons Robert Charles Hunter of Waterford and David John Hunter of New London; her daughters Teresa Ann Hunter and Helen Rebecca Booty, both of Waterford; her brothers Johnny Bell of Essex, England and Ralph Bell of Nottingham, England; her sister Rene Neil also of Essex, England; her grandchildren John, Tammy, Kristy and Katie Hunter, Angela Coffey, Ena Gordon, Joe and Sarah Peabody; and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Carol Lynn Hunter-Rancourt and her brother Benny Bell.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 5pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. Burial will be private.
