He was born on May 17, 1947 in Toledo Ohio, the son of Howard and Lois Lambrix Mitchell.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Isabella Cascio Peterson, sisters, Pamela Giagni of Arizona, Mary Beth Streight of Michigan brother David Mitchell of Idaho, daughter, Kristin Detgen and son, Jason Mitchell, Brother-in-law Paul Cascio & sister-in-law Michele Cascio & Brian Morris. Isabella’s sons, Todd Michael & Alicia Peterson of California and Marc & Jodi Peterson of East Lyme & grandchildren Zoe and Owen and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was a Veteran and served as a military policeman in the US Army. Most recently he was a dedicated employee at Lighthouse Vocational Education Center in Niantic, where he cherished all the clientele he worked with.
Calling hours and services will be held on Saturday, January 20th from 11am-1pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Avenue, Niantic. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Smilow Cancer Center.
