East Lyme- Georgeanne (Friery) Bristol, 64, of Niantic beloved wife of David C. Bristol died Tuesday morning, June 8, 2010 at her home.

She was born in Hartford on September 19, 1945, the daughter of the late Dr. Clarance and Consuelo (Drago) Friery.

Georgeanna (Georgia) graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford and attended Mt. Ida and American University. Georgia and David were married on August 13, 1976 in Granby, CT.

In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Matthew Friery Bristol and his wife Jenna of Niantic, a sister Frances Dillon of Unionville, CT, a brother Clarance Friery of Zephyrhills, FL, a brother John Friery of Central City, Colorado and sisters-in-law Eleanor Friery of Red Hook, NY and Ruth Friery of El Cajon, CA.

In her younger years she worked as a buyer at Sage Allen Department store in Hartford. In the 1970’s Georgia was an Information Technology Coordinator with the State of CT Judicial Branch, where she trained staff to use the branch’s first state wide information system. After several years she retired to more fully enjoy life with Matthew and David.

Life was an adventure for Georgia and she lived it on her own terms. She was a free spirit who could squeeze joy out of every moment. A fierce defender of all she believed in, she would never shy away from a chance to share her views. Georgia was also warm, playful, funny, endlessly curious about the world around her, and unwaveringly loyal to those close to her. All those fortunate enough to be counted among her family and friends have received an unforgettable gift in knowing her.

Georgia was the unofficial ambassador of Pine Grove and very active in the community she loved. She was elected a member of the Pine Grove Niantic Association Board of Governors and Vice- President of the Connecticut Spiritualist Camp Meeting Association. She was also a tireless worker for the Pine Grove Beautification Committee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Grove Beautification Committee, PGNA, P.O. I just learned this morning about Georgia's passing. You have my deepest sympathies. When I first met Georgia, she was 25 years old, more or less. In my mind she will always be 25, full of life and fun. She will be missed.

Vera Pizzarelli and Maggie Barili on Spring Street send you love and light. Although we didn't get to know Georgia very well, I know how much she means to our sweet loving community here in Pine Grove. The evidence of her existence here is all around us and thriving. Dave, even though we don't see you that often, please know that you can call on us anytime for anything.
