Born on June 20, 1938, in Malone, New York, Joan was the cherished daughter of Robert and Isabelle Gleason.
Personal Life and Contributions
Joan was a loving wife, mother, and daughter, whose dedication to her family was unwavering. She devoted her time and affection to those she loved, always ready to help in any way she could. Joan's generosity extended beyond her family; she was known throughout the community for her willingness to volunteer and assist others, whether offering rides, shopping for groceries, or simply sharing her warm smile. Her creative talents found expression in crafting, painting, and jewelry making, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Joan’s faith guided her life of service and was evident in her everyday actions.
Survived By
Joan is survived by her daughters, Eileen Christ of Pennsylvania and Deborah Ann O’Connell of New London, as well as her dearest and close friend, Carol Gregg.
Predeceased Family
In addition to her husband, Joan was predeceased by her son, Robert O'Connell, Jr.; daughters, Kathleen M. Maynard and Carolyn Sandoval; grandson, Matthew Mosher; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Service Information
A graveside service will take place at River Bend Cemetery in Westerly, Rhode Island, on a date to be announced.
