

June Drapeau Finkle Watrous, a resident of Mystic, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Born on April 4, 1945, in Berlin, New Hampshire, she was raised in East Hartford, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Normand and Cecile (Cloutier) Drapeau.
A graduate of East Hartford High School’s class of 1963. Throughout her life, she nurtured her passion for music. Her singing career began during her junior year of high school when she was unexpectedly asked to replace the soprano solo in “Ave Maria.” Subsequently, she was enrolled at the Hartt School of Music in West Hartford, Connecticut, where she pursued studies in piano and voice. After high school she joined the Covenant of Mount St. Joseph Academy in West Hartford while attending St. Joseph’s College. Prior to taking her vows as a nun, she recognized her calling was to be a mother.
She was an Executive Assistant to the President of Phoenix until experiencing a stroke in 1985. Despite her physical challenges she was now faced with, she continued to lead a fulfilling life. She diligently pursued and successfully obtained an Associate’s Degree. She was an inspiration of strength.
With her late husband, Edward Finkle, they were blessed with three wonderful children.
She was blessed to meet and marry her surviving husband, Richard Watrous, who steadfastly and lovingly cared for her until her passing.
In addition to her husband Richard, she is survived by her daughter Patricia DelGaudio and her husband, Vincent of Niantic; her sons John Finkle and his wife, Janet of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; David Finkle and his wife, Laura of Longview, Texas; and Richard Watrous Jr. and his wife, Elise of North Stonington.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristen Hightower-Bill and her husband, TJ; Kyle Hightower and his wife, Tami, Korbin Hightower, Michael Finkle, Theron Watrous, Savannah Horsman, Sarah Payne, Katlynn Payne, Kiran Henderson, and Jacob Henderson. Her great-grandchildren Kaylee Gray, Haley Bill, Ashlyn Bill, Madison Bill, Anna Bill, Harper Hightower, Brody Hightower and Natalya Horsman.
She also leaves behind her siblings, Paul Drapeau of Stafford Springs, Pauline Champ of Cambridge Springs, PA, Normand Drapeau of East Hartford, and Grace Lussier of Rocky Hill.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Apple Rehab in Mystic for the wonderful care they provided over the past few years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on December 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Service, 13 Lake Avenue, Niantic, CT
