Lisbeth Giroux, 84, of Niantic, CT, passed away peacefully at L&M Hospital. Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, she was a kind and joyful person. Lisbeth was the last to pass of her four beloved siblings: Kent, Eva-Britt, Leif and Lars-Ove.
At sixteen years old, Lisbeth took the transatlantic from Sweden to New York, working as an au pair on 5th Avenue. Later, she moved to CT to study Accounting at New London Business College. While traveling as Sears’ Audit Supervisor, she met Armand Giroux. They married in 1966 and settled in East Lyme, where they raised their daughter.
Lisbeth was proud of her Swedish roots and enjoyed sharing her traditions and stories with others. Known for her warm presence and contagious laugh, Lisbeth adored keeping in touch with family and spending time together by the beach. She is survived by her daughter Michelle, son-in-law Francois, and granddaughters Alexie and Chloé Bouchard, who lovingly called her, ‘Mormor’.
There will be a small service held in the Spring.
