

Waterford- Marjorie ( Marge) Rix Ferencz passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025 8 days before her 99th birthday. She was the first daughter born to Clyde and Mildred Huntley Rix on their farm in East Lyme. The same farm that her mother and 5 siblings were born on. She was predeceased by her brothers James Rix (Betty), Earl Rix ( Marylou), and her sisters Mary Rix Goss, and Helen (Bob) Terwilliger. She leaves behind her brother Bill Rix of Groton, her two daughters Linda Lemanski (Donald) of Groton and Carol Farrior(Robert) of Waterford and Rockledge FL. grandchildren Michael Lemanski (Jen), Donna Lemanski DeBoer, Joel Farrior (Corey), Andrew Farrior (Amy), and her great-grandchildren Noah, Wyatt, Samantha, Jack, and Emily. She married Andrew (Andy)Ferencz on July 20, 1946, after he had returned home from World War II. They built their home on the Rix Farm property where they raised their family enjoying many family activities. Andy died on July 7, 1988. She worked at Greentree Manor Nursing Home for many years and later retired from the Waterford VNA. She continued working privately in people's homes after retirement. The love of her life was helping, and caring for family, friends, and others. In later years she had a loving companion and dance partner for 16 years, Amos Potter of Waterford. His family became her second family. In her 80’s and 90’s she was very active in the Shoreline 50’s plus Singles Dance Club. She and Amos rarely missed a dance and loved traveling to Maine. Amos died on November 5, 2007. 2017 she sold her home and moved in with her daughter Carol (Robert). She sewed continually making dog beds for the Humane Society and the Dog Warden in Waterford. She made quilts for veterans (Quilts of Valor) and enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. In 2022 she moved into Solstice Senior Living in Groton where she lived independently. She made many friends and continued sewing quilts, mending for some of the other residents, and enjoyed pinochle, crafts, and painting. Marge was a member of Flanders Baptist and Community Church where she sang in the choir and was very active in the Junior Circle, church suppers, and sales. She loved to help. She was a life member of the Kari Hill VFW Post 5849 Auxiliary in Niantic. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (Gigi), partner, friend, and helper to many. Always there if needed for others.
