Mary Jean Lynch

Mrs. Lynch was born on August 1, 1936 in Lynn, MA the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Riley. As the youngest child of a large Irish family, Mary frequently spoke of great adventures growing up with her brothers and sisters. Mary graduated from Cochituate High School in Framingham, MA in1954 and upon graduating, Mary met and married the love of her life, Edward Lynch on May 4th, 1957. Together they lived a life full of laughter and uncompromising devotion to one another as they raised eight children. Some of Mary’s fondest times were spending summer vacations in Prince Edward Island or at their lake house in Vermont. She also enjoyed quiet evenings at home with her family, creating amazing homemade meals and then cuddling up on the couch to watch her favorite teams the Patriots or Red Sox. Mary was a talented artisan and her beautiful paintings, quilts and needlework were admired and sought after by anyone that viewed her craftsmanship. Above all Mary should be remembered and renowned for her strength, earnest advice and unyielding compassion for all that had the fortune to be in her life.

Mrs. Lynch is survived by her loving husband, Edward Lynch, her 6 children, Ann Marie Lynch and her partner Melissa Statler, Patrick Lynch and his wife Jennifer Annesi, son in law Edward Dill, Nancy Wengefeld and her partner Steve Tunucci, Chris Lynch, Sean Lynch and his wife Shelly, Cheryle Mullaney and her husband Jon and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her beautiful daughters Diane Lynch and Kathleen Dill, parents Joseph and Katherine Riley, son in law Robert Wengefeld, brothers Robert and Richard Riley, sister Betty McCorrmick and twin sister Marilyn Handlon.

Calling Hours for family will be held from 4:00- 5:00 and for the general public from 5:00- 7:00 on Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic, CT 06357. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: Saint Jude’s Hospital.
