

Nancy Anne Desmond, née Hedrick, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Columbus, Kansas, Nancy’s life took her from the heartland to vibrant cities including Boston and Washington, D.C., before she made her final home in Niantic, Connecticut.
A graduate of Boston University, Nancy brought intelligence, elegance, and discerning taste to everything she did. She built a rewarding career in luxury retail, serving as both a store manager and buyer, and was admired for her impeccable style and professionalism.
Beyond her career, Nancy was deeply engaged in the art community of Washington, D.C., where she cultivated lifelong friendships and shared her appreciation for beauty, creativity, and culture. Those who knew her will remember her sharp wit, wonderful sense of humor, and enduring grace.
Nancy was predeceased by her beloved twin daughters, Theresa and Kathleen Desmond. In addition to her two brothers, Thomas and Samuel Hedrick, she is survived by her daughter Diana Desmond Spranklin and son-in-law Thomas Spranklin, as well as grandchildren Samuel Bloom and Ellen (Bloom) McCullough, and John Thomas, Desmond, and Sarah Spranklin.
A private memorial will be held to celebrate her life.
