Robert met and married the love of his life, Lou Ann, to whom he was married for 63 years. Shortly after marrying, the couple moved to what they described as, "the sleepy seaside town," of Niantic. He was a perfectionist in all aspects of his life. To provide for his family, Robert worked at Electric Boat as a senior designer where he was greatly respected by his peers. In his free time, Robert loved holding clam bakes for his friends and neighbors. He also loved golf, crossword puzzles and was a lifetime member of the Niantic Sportsman Club. When his wife became ill, Robert worked tirelessly to care for her. He was predeceased by his wife in 2019; and is survived by his children, Debbie Stewart (Frank) of Oakdale, Stephen Wilson (Ellen Arbour) of Niantic and Denise Vertefeuille (Nelson) of Clinton. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren
Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Fulton- Theroux, 13 Lake Ave., in Niantic. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
