Sheila E Siborg

East Lyme – Sheila E. (Rubega) Siborg, 63, of Upper Pattagansett Road, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 22, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born July 17, 1963, in Rochester, N.Y., Sheila was the beloved daughter of Robert and Patricia Rubega.

Sheila was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched everyone she met. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and her master's degree from Northeastern University. She built a successful career as an electronics engineer, beginning at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center and later continuing at Electric Boat.

A faithful and active parishioner of St. John XXIII Catholic Community, Sheila lived her life with kindness, compassion and quiet selflessness. She had a remarkable sense of humor and an unforgettable, infectious laugh that brought joy to those around her. She was an avid crafter, talented knitter and quilter, exceptional cook, and gracious hostess who found her greatest happiness in spending time with family and friends. Sheila had a rare gift for making people feel loved and valued, whether through her thoughtful generosity, homemade creations, or simply her caring presence. Many who crossed her path became lifelong friends, a testament to the lasting impact she had on others.

Sheila is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; her son, Jeremy; her daughters, Julie Spaulding (John) and Kristin Tellar (Steven); her sisters, Madeline Martin (Robert), Margaret Rubega (Chris), and Anne Rubega; her brothers, Alfred Rubega, Robert Rubega (Patricia), and Patrick Rubega (Susan); as well as many cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Jordan; her sister, Mary Myers; and her sister-in-law, Mary Rubega.

Sheila devoted her life to caring for others with unwavering love, fierce strength, and boundless tenderness. Though words cannot fully capture the extraordinary woman she was or the legacy she leaves behind, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply and forever missed.

Calling Hours will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Avenue, Niantic. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, in St. Matthias Church, 317 Chesterfield Road, East Lyme. Interment will follow in East Lyme Cemetery.
