

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 13, 1951, Alex was the son of the late Caswell Smith, Sr. and Gladys Cobb Smith. He was a proud graduate of Warren Easton High School and honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy.
Alex leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Donna Marie Smith. He is also survived by his children, Corey Clanton (Leticia), Adrina Smith, Aisha Blanton, and Dwaynea Washington (D’Juan).
He was the loving grandfather to Corey Daniels, Coreine Daniels, Ireion Silas (Cardell), Pierre Sykes (Brandi), Chane Sykes, Cedreka Blanton, Damion Blanton, Joe’Meka Blanton, Tory Blanton, and Daxon Washington. He was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren.
Alex is further survived by his siblings: Zelvinlynn Davis (Alexander), Zerlander Rags (Ellery), Tiffany White (Napoleon), Mercentta Brumfield (Ahmed), Zattier Martin (Ernest), Corcasa Washington (Brandon), Tattier Smith, Ranza Smith, Orvette Smith (Wanda), Zelvin Smith (Antonia), and Ulrich Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Oran Mackie, Karika Smith, Christopher Smith, Sr., Caswell Smith, Jr., Carl Smith, Sr., and Thyne Smith; and four beloved godchildren.
Alex will be remembered as a laid-back man who was slow to anger, generous in spirit, and always willing to lend a helping hand. He would do anything for anyone and truly would have given the shirt off his back. Everything he did was for his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally.
He will also be remembered as one of the flyest men anyone knew, carrying himself with style, confidence, and a warm smile wherever he went. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Alex will be greatly missed and forever cherished by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
