Arthur Joseph Fernandez Jr.
November 8, 1931 – May 19, 2018
Arthur Joseph Fernandez, Jr., Louisiana native and longtime Tucson resident, passed away May 19, 2018, at the age of 86. He was a graduate of St. Paul’s School in Covington, La., and attended Tulane University in New Orleans. He served as an electronics technician in the Navy during the Korean War. After discharge, he worked for the RCA Service Company for 15 years before coming to Tucson to work for Hughes Aircraft Company, from which he retired after 17 years. His retirement career included tireless volunteer work in the computer departments of Santa Rita and San Miguel High Schools, in Tucson. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude, and his father, Arthur Joseph (“Totes”). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Burguieres; brothers and spouses, Richard (Martha) and Thomas (Mary Ann) and sister Jane Faucheux (Al, deceased); his children and their spouses, Joe (Michelle), Marie Hemmila (Karl), Dennis (Sandra Daniels, deceased), Tim (Sandy), and Patty (Nick Trautwein); fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan, LA beginning at 9AM with Mass at 11 AM. Burial to follow in the church cemetery.
