Elaine Wehrlin Chatelain entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 12:40PM. Age 80 years, a native of Metairie, LA and a resident of Paulina and Vacherie, LA for many years. Beloved wife of the late Lionel “L.G.” Gabriel Chatelain, Jr. Loving mother of Lizette C. Holt (Kevin) and the late Monique C. Montz (Doyle). Devoted grandmother of Laci Montz Rose (Seth) and Nicholas C. Louque (Nicole). Great grandmother of Owen C. Louque, Reece M. Louque, and Evelyn R. Rose. Step grandmother of Kenny Holt (Kristy) and Danielle Holt. Daughter of the late Leo and Hilda Saurage Wehrlin. Sister-in-law of Cathy Lombard (Late: Rocky). Also survived by 3 step great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Elaine was a member of New Orleans Powerboat Association, and her greatest joy was crocheting baby Afghan blankets for her family, friends and donating her crochet gifts to the Veterans Home residents and many charitable organizations.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 6484 Hwy 44, Convent, LA on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM until Mass Time at Church. Interment will follow in St Michaels Cemetery, Convent LA.
