

Elodie Marie (Dee) Burguieres passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born in New Orleans on February 11, 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jules M. Burguieres and Elodie Bergeron Burguieres. She was also preceded in death by her five sisters, Barbara Mire (Edward), Dolores McCurley LeBlanc (C.J.), Patricia Fernandez (Arthur), Josie Moreau (John), Peggy Baudoin (Waldo), and her dear friend, Nancy Trenor. She is survived by her sister, Gail Cambre (Ronald) and many nieces and nephews who loved her.
Elodie, one of seven sisters, grew up in Destrehan, Louisiana. Elodie was proudly the great-great granddaughter of Jules M. Burguieres, founder of the “J.M. Burguieres Company Limited,” founded in 1877. She had a special relationship with her father and loved to hunt with him from an early age. She graduated from Destrehan High School and went on to work at the Loyola Library in New Orleans and later the Monsanto chemical operation in Luling, LA as a laboratory technician. Upon retirement, Elodie retreated to Chatawa, Mississippi and spent 43 years enjoying the serenity of the piney woods with her beloved dogs. During this period, she volunteered at Sisters of the Pines. She will be remembered for her steady laugh and ability to find humor in all situations.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA, at 10AM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12PM. Burial to follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, where she will join her parents and five sisters on the property adjacent to the homesite on which she grew up.
