Elton Stephen Ockman Sr.

Elton Stephen Ockman, Sr. passed away at his home in Hahnville, LA on May 14, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born in Edgard, LA on August 3, 1932, to Zenon Ockman and Florence Duhe Ockman. He was married to Beverly Guidry Ockman for 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his spouse Beverly Guidry Ockman, parents, Zenon and Florence Ockman and his siblings, Clifford Ockman, Melvin Ockman, Pearl Bourgeois, and Caroly Hayes and his daughter-in-law, Cathy Ockman.

Elton is survived by his children, Bryan Ockman (Betty), Elton S. Ockman, Jr, “Jay” (Laura), Cheri Ockman Williams (Mike), and Laurie Ockman Rawson (Brent) and his companion for 20 years, Janet Jaquillard. His grandchildren, Heather Montz Maturin (Clint), Jonathan Montz (Ashley), Madison Rawson Plummer (Luke), Taylor Ockman, Kourtney Cooper, Maverick Ockman, Faith Ockman, Brodie Rawson, Josh Ockman and Holly Ockman. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Cooper Maturin, Ella Maturin, Rowan Montz, and Rylin Montz.

He loved to hunt and fish and dedicated many years serving his church, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary and the Hahnville Fire Department. He was known to many as L’Avocat.

The family would like to thank his caregivers, especially Tosha and Tressy, for their compassion and kindness during this time.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Hahnville, LA. Visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft, LA.
