Geno and I had many good times together... some crazy nights.... had many good laughs ... One night, we went to the magic casino and Geno won a bunch of money playing black jack... we were driving home about 3 in the morning and a Mississippi state policeman pulled us over.. The officer asked if we had been drinking ? We told him yes cause I'm sure he could tell.. After some thought, the officer said " I'm getting off work soon.. I want y'all to leave the truck parked here and go across the street to that store and get some coffee and sober up.. Y'all can come back and y'all can head home at 6 am.. ( this was almost 30 years ago ) So, we did that, but we probably didn't wait till 6 am to leave ... As we headed home, we caught a flat in New Orleans and didn't have a spare tire... So, we called a taxi and finally got home about 7am. Seems like we had many nights like that... I will remember all the laughs and joking around.. Geno had an infectious laugh about him.. He was very mechanically gifted as well as he repaired anything that needed repairing rather it be a vehicle, lawnmower, etc. Geno would stop by the house and help me work on whatever I was working on. He loved football and we watched a many of games together.. He loved horse racing and used to be an exercise rider for certain trainers.. He taught me how to handicap the horse races... He was always better at it than I was.. One time, he, "Chew" Weber and I went to the races. We bet a big race and we all liked different horses.. The horses we liked were the #1 , #8 and #9 horse.. I don't remember the order the came in but all 3 horses hit the board ... The trifecta ( which is the first 3 horses ) paid over $ 26,000 ...if we would've put our 3 horses together, we would've hit the trifecta.. ( this was somewhere around 1991 ).. Geno was a friend of my family.... He would always joke around with my mom and she thought Geno was hilarious... My heartfelt sympathies to the Ackerman family...
