Gene "Bubba" Giles Jr.

Gene Arthur Giles Jr., known affectionately as Bubba and to family as Baby Gene, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on September 29, 2025, at 10:15 AM. He was born on April 13, 1967, in Metairie, Louisiana, and was a longtime resident of Destrehan, LA.

Gene was the beloved husband of Laurie Giles, sharing sixteen wonderful years together. He was a devoted father to Devin Giles and Tara Bailey, and a loving stepfather to Theodore Kobak. He was the cherished son of Gene Arthur Giles Sr. and the late Sharon Giles of Destrehan, and a caring brother to Gena Giles, Katrina Pellissier, Charles Butler, and Rick Butler. Gene was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, whose lives he touched deeply.

A man of many talents, Gene could do anything he set his mind to. His skill and dedication as a heavy equipment operator brought him great joy, and his work ethic was admired by all who knew him. Gene’s love for his family was unmatched, and he found happiness in fishing, cooking, and sharing his famous sweet tea—known by all to be the very best.

Gene cherished the moments spent pulling floats in Mardi Gras parades with Laurie, his beloved wife, and the love of his life, along with their dog Coco. These memories, filled with laughter and celebration, were among his favorites.

Gene will be remembered for his kindness, his zest for life, and the love he gave to everyone around him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and joyful memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished. Thank you, LORD, for the time we all shared with Bubba.

A Celebration of Life will be held at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, 22 Apple St. Norco, LA, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, visitation will begin at 11:30AM with the service starting at 1PM.
